Vivienne Westwood's 'Pirates' and actual pirate fashion
One is a spin on Punk fashion, one is all about the flaunting lifestyle
Ever since my obsession with the casuals and hooliganism, another iconic British fashion movement that caught my eyes was the 80s New Romantics. This new movement, a colorful phenomenon started in Blitz Club in Covent Garden was partly influenced by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s ‘Pirates’ collection.
This is the first proper collection, introduced in 1981, by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, titled ‘Pirates.’ While the style is as refreshing as it is, the significance of this collection far outweighs the wow factor brought by the Jolly Rogers.
