I recently thought about this journaling format to document my growth and learnings, but most importantly, what is fashion for me at different stages. I hope this will be helpful for myself and you, or is this me being overly optimistic?
What was fashion for me?
Fashion was clothes; fashion was celebrities; fashion was Neighborhood (the brand); fashion was confused by the fact that my mom would willingly wear 4+ layers of what I now know was Yohji Yamamoto in the summertime in Hong Kong, fashion was flannel over hoodie.
It was a phase, and I am by no means saying anything is wrong, but this is what I would call an ‘uninformed fashion mind’ because I was indeed uninformed, and information did change my perspective on the things I listed and many more. Ultimately, fashion wasn’t something I would choose to read about or voluntarily learn about, but the moment I decided to, it fundamentally changed for me.
At this point, everything reads WAY too dramatic.
“what are you on about? It’s just fashion dude.”
I don’t even know, maybe this is a new level of passion I’ve reached.
What is fashion for me?
Fashion is still clothes; fashion is still celebrities, but much more is happening.
The research I’ve done in the past 21 months is life-changing, not only did I open my eyes to the vast horizon, but I’ve also rewired the way I look at fashion. Sometimes, I don’t even think I am talking about fashion anymore, it’s more of an abstract state of bodily aesthetic that I refer to.
